NYPD unveils its Mach-E electrical patrol automobile at NY Global Vehicle Exhibit

NEW YORK — Last week, New Yorkers experienced a chance to get up shut and private with the NYPD’s initially electric powered patrol auto. The agency unveiled its tricked-out Ford Mustang Mach-E at the New York Intercontinental Car Show in Manhattan. 

NYPD Insp. Scott Olexa of the Fleet Expert services Division released the auto in a distinctive online video. 

“We have around 100 of these automobiles coming in and we are heading to be putting them into service of patrol autos,” Olexa explained in the video. “The notion is to shift to a greener fleet.” 

The police variation of the Mach-E arrives with ballistic doorways and home windows, a steel roof and regular police lights, Olexa claimed. The automobile is pursuit-rated and can achieve -60 mph in 3.8 seconds, the Detroit Totally free Push noted. 

Olexa says charging stations are now being mounted at several NYPD services. 

New York Metropolis bought 184 of the electric powered cars and trucks in December for the NYPD and other unexpected emergency reaction agencies. An previously report said the cars would get there by June 30, even though it’s not very clear when the Mach-E will officially strike the beat.  

The New York International Automobile Present has been held in Manhattan annually due to the fact 1900 as an “annual exhibition of automobile” pageantry, according to the show’s web site
